AMOS
BIELER is the middle child in a family of three sons. He grew up
in a rural home in Southwest Missouri. Though raised in a Christian
atmosphere, he is a relatively new Christian and still has much to learn
about the Scriptures and about effectively sharing God's Word with others.
Amos hopes that his time with the Bible Institute of Missouri will help
start a life boldly proclaiming the Gospel as a worker in the Lord's
vineyard, setting an example for others around him. His favorite verse of
Scripture is Ecclesiastes 12:13 which says, "Let us hear the conclusion of
the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's
all." However, on occasion he must re-read Philippians 2:14...
BRENT
GREEN has
lived in the Springfield, Missouri area and has attended the Kansas
Expressway Church of Christ all of his life. Growing up, he lived in
Republic, Missouri. He became a Christian in 1994 and has been striving to
grow spiritually ever since. In 2000, he graduated from Republic High
School. He continued his education at Missouri State University, and in 2004
graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He has been married to
his "beautiful, loving, and supportive wife, Dedra," since July of 2004. He
wrote, "It is her love and support that encourages me to be a better person.
Throughout my life and education I have had an excellent support group of
family and friends. God has blessed me tremendously, and I am grateful to be
able to use my life for His glory."
EDGAR
LANDA is the only Hispanic student at the Bible Institute of
Missouri. He is from Dodge City, Kansas but originally from Veracruz,
Mexico. He has a wife, Maria Elena, and two children, Edma Lizbeth (5) and
Edgar Daniel (1). Edgar writes, "My main purpose for becoming a preacher is
to let people know that God has a purpose for our lives, to help those who
are truly seeking the kingdom of God, and to reach as many as I can to the
glory of God. Being in the Bible Institute of Missouri is one of the most
beautiful experiences that I have had. I am thankful for the instructors and
for this once in a lifetime opportunity."
SCOTT
MARRIOT has always lived in Missouri. He moved to Springfield in
August, 1976 from a little town near the Lake of the Ozarks. Before coming
to the Bible Institute of Missouri, he worked at Dillon's grocery stores for
eighteen years. He wrote, "For some time, I have wanted to get into the
ministry, and this has certainly been a blessing. At this point in time, I
believe I want to at least preach part-time. I really have a passion for
leading Bible studies and doing more teaching. Youth ministry is something I
have considered too."
DEREK
YARBER was born in Mountain View, Missouri where his family is
originally from, but he calls Mountain Grove, Missouri home. He lived in
Mountain Grove for the majority of his life and graduated from the town’s
public high school in 2003. Following graduation, he attended and graduated
from Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) in
West Plains with an Associate’s Degree in General Studies in the Spring of
2005. He is twenty-one years old and now lives in Springfield, Missouri,
where he is attending the Bible Institute of Missouri. He is
the youngest of four children and has one brother and two sisters: Clint,
Bonnie, and April. His father and mother are Larry and Cheryl Yarber. Clint,
his brother, has been preaching for the Mountain Grove church of Christ
about eight years. His father has been preaching the gospel over thirty
years in addition to being a full-time, rural mail carrier. He wrote, "I
feel blessed to have been reared in a Christian, God-fearing home and am
forever indebted to my family, who has set an excellent example for me to
follow. The Lord has honored me with the opportunity to be a part of the
Bible Institute of Missouri. While attending preaching school, I
hope to further my knowledge of God’s Word. By increasing my knowledge and
faith, I hope to become a better servant of God and help others to do the
same."
